My experience and approach:

I have been a wedding photographer in Dallas since 2012.  I have photographed over 200 weddings in my career. Photographing weddings is an honor that I take very seriously but I do so with a great sense of humor!  Weddings are such a joyous occasion, everyone is happy to be there and I love to be surrounded by happy people! I also find the fast paced nature of a wedding day to be invigorating! I enjoy helping in any way I can to take some of the stresses off of the couple and their family.  Wedding Photography is hard work, but I love every minute of it!  Nothing on your wedding day is outside of my job description.  I will do whatever is necessary to ensure that you don't have to sweat the small stuff on your big day!  My skills include, but are not limited to, crowd control, boutonniere pinning, dress bustling, hair styling, etc.

My Style and Technique:

My wedding photography style is a modern romantic look with a touch of drama.  Each wedding is different and I tend to alter my style just a bit depending on the natural light that is available. I use mostly natural light for the ceremony and outdoor portraits, and I use off camera flash to create my unique style of lighting nighttime, indoor portraits, and receptions. I am very good at thinking on my feet to creating light to capture images that truly showcase the look and feel of your unique day.

-as a wedding photographer, I am devoted to providing each couple with the best possible memories from their wedding day.

My Education and Background:

I am a self-taught photographer.  Meaning I structured my learning around experience and not school.  I worked in several portrait studios to learn the art of photography before branching off on my own.  It took me a couple of years to truly develop my style, but I feel like I have found a home in wedding photography. My work evolves as my experience grows. Aside from photographing over 30 weddings a year, I am an active member of the PPA (professional photographers association) and I regularly attend training and workshops to further my skill level.  I have photographed weddings from all different cultures including American Christian, Hindu, Jewish, Napalese, Muslim, Ismali, Catholic, as well as same-sex weddings.

The Stephanie Ray Photography experience:

As a seasoned wedding photographer, I bring a lot of experience with me. My goal is to help you plan your wedding day so that you get the most out of your time with me. The biggest thing that sets me apart from other wedding photographers, is how invested I am in making sure that your day is the best day of your lives! Before the wedding we will come up with a plan that will include a timeline for photography, and on the day of the wedding I am able to execute that timeline so you can sit back and enjoy your day, stress free.

The Consultation

Once you have reached out to me about your wedding, I will check my calendar and ensure that I available on your wedding date. We will schedule a time to meet face-to-face for a wedding photography consultation and I will send you a questionnaire to fill out online so I can have all the important details about your big day.

At our wedding photography consultation, I will show you some wedding album samples and we will review the suggested timeline that I create based on your questionnaire answers. We will also discuss the wedding photography collections and customize a collection based on your needs. At that time, I put a 2 week hold on your wedding date while you decide on a collection. Once you are ready to book your wedding, You let me know which collection you would like and I send you an invoice and contract that you can pay and sign online.

The Engagement Portraits

Once you have signed your contract and your first payment is made, it’s time to book your portrait session! We will discuss the options for location and wardrobe and get your session scheduled. My favorite locations are the AT&T Performing Arts Center in Dallas, White Rock Lake, Deep Ellum, and the Continental Bridge. The engagement portrait session is a great way for us to get to know each other and for you to experience a shoot with me before the wedding day. After the session, your images are delivered in an online gallery. I will send you the link 2-3 weeks after your portrait session and you can download the images from there. You can select 15 images to be fully retouched and I will deliver those in the same online gallery when they are ready.

The Wedding Day

The week of your wedding we will have a final conversation about the timeline and confirm any changes to the original plan. On your wedding day I will arrive and be ready to shoot at our designated start time. I will execute the timeline that we created and be sure that we get all the images that we discussed and planned for. To capture the candid moments of the day, I may direct you into the best light and the right angles, but I really try to capture the events of the day as they unfold organically. It is my mission to create lasting memories of your special day that will be enjoyed for generations. Everything I do on the wedding day is to see that mission through. Nothing is outside of my job description on that day! I am there to assist you in any way I can to make your day perfect.

After the Wedding Day

It takes 2-3 weeks to deliver the images from your wedding day in your online gallery. You can download these images directly from the website or order prints. You may also share this link with friends and family. I design your album layout next and schedule a time for us to review it together in a virtual viewing. We will review the page options I have created for you and finalize the design of the layout at that appointment. The layout design typically takes 6-8 weeks to complete. Once your layout is complete and you have approved it, I will proceed with retouching every image in your album and fine tuning the layout before delivering the proof to you online. You then have one final chance to make any changes before the album is sent to print. Once the album is printed it is shipped to you along with your flash drive that will contain all the images from the wedding as well as the retouched images from your album. This process typically takes 2-3 months from the wedding date to complete.
